Clear Aligners and Invisalign in Santiago

Invisalign is the same aligner brand everywhere. What changes from one practice to another is who plans your case, with what technology, and what the plan includes. These are the four criteria worth checking before deciding, and where we stand on each.

First, the provider's tier. Align Technology classifies orthodontists by annual volume of certified cases, and the highest tiers are Diamond and Platinum. Dr. Camila Sampaio has been an Invisalign Diamond Provider continuously since 2021, and is an Orthodontics Specialist from Faculdade São Leopoldo Mandic. Always ask about the tier and about continuity, because reaching it once is not the same as holding it year after year.

Second, digital scanning. An Invisalign case is planned on a 3D model of your mouth, so scanner quality defines the quality of the starting point. We work with the iTero 5D, which also lets us show you a simulation of the result before treatment begins. If a practice takes silicone impressions for an aligner case, that is a sign the workflow is not digital.

Third, who controls the ClinCheck. The digital plan where every movement is defined can be adjusted by the orthodontist or accepted as it arrives pre-built. That difference decides the outcome. Ask who reviews and modifies your ClinCheck, and ask to see it.

Fourth, what the full plan includes. It is worth clarifying from the start how many refinements are covered, whether retainers are included at the end, how often check-ups happen, and what happens if the final result does not match the approved ClinCheck. An aligner treatment ends at the retention phase, not when the last aligner comes off.

Align Technology, the maker of Invisalign, classifies its certified orthodontists into tiers based on annual case volume. The Diamond Provider tier identifies the group treating the highest volume of certified Invisalign cases worldwide each year.

Dr. Camila Sampaio has held this designation continuously since 2021. It is not a promotional badge. It is verifiable data reflecting clinical experience accumulated across hundreds of cases each year, with the learning curve only sustained volume can deliver.

In practice, that volume translates into three things: the ability to anticipate which movements are realistic and which need refinements before starting, mastery of the ClinCheck software and of attachments to access complex movements, and speed handling unexpected events that take weeks in lower-volume clinics.

1. iTero 5D scan. We capture the full dentition in minutes, with no silicone impressions. The scanner detects interproximal caries, gingival recession, and occlusal wear in the same session through NIRI and the diagnostic modules built into the device.

2. ClinCheck planning. On the 3D model, Dr. Sampaio designs the full sequence: movements, attachment positions, refinement timing, and final result. We review it on screen together before approving the start.

3. Fabrication and delivery. Align Technology fabricates the custom SmartTrack aligners. At the start session we bond composite attachments, deliver the first series, and walk through wear and hygiene protocols.

4. Check-ups every 6 to 8 weeks. We verify the teeth are tracking the ClinCheck plan. If there is drift, we apply refinements: additional aligners calculated from a new scan. Refinements are included in the initial plan.

5. Vivera retention. At completion we deliver Vivera retainers manufactured by Align with the same material as the aligners. For cases with relapse risk in the anterior segment, we add a fixed lingual retainer.
