Clear Aligners
Invisalign Diamond Provider continuously since 2021, led by Dr. Camila Sampaio
ASK ABOUT INVISALIGNClear aligner orthodontics with Invisalign is the aesthetic and predictable alternative to metal braces. At AS Odontología Digital, our boutique dental clinic in Vitacura, treatment is led by Dr. Camila Sampaio, an Orthodontics Specialist trained at Faculdade São Leopoldo Mandic (Campinas, Brazil) and Invisalign Diamond Provider continuously since 2021, a designation Align Technology reserves for orthodontists with the highest annual volume of certified Invisalign cases worldwide.
The Invisalign system uses a series of custom-made removable aligners crafted from SmartTrack, a patented clear medical-grade plastic that exerts more controlled and consistent forces on teeth. Treatment begins with an iTero 5D intraoral scan, the scanner the Invisalign network recognizes as standard for advanced cases, and is processed with ClinCheck, where Dr. Sampaio designs the full plan: movement sequence, attachment positioning, refinement timing, and a preview of the final result before approving the start of treatment.
The system is suitable for both teens and adults who want to correct their smile without the visual impact or restrictions of metal braces. The aligners are removable, making dental hygiene easy and allowing you to eat without restrictions. Invisalign does not interfere with professional or social life, and eliminates the emergencies of traditional orthodontics: loose brackets, poking wires, dietary restrictions.
The intraoral scan provides the model Dr. Camila Sampaio uses to plan treatment with ClinCheck. The simulation helps explain proposed movements, stages and goals. It is a planning tool: tooth movement is checked at follow-up visits and the plan may need adjustments.
Who is a candidate for Invisalign? The system covers most alignment issues: mild to severe crowding, gaps between teeth (diastemas), crossbite, open bite, overbite, and dental protrusion. Both teens with permanent dentition and adults of any age can benefit, provided they have good periodontal health. In cases of severe skeletal malocclusions or surgical needs, Dr. Sampaio evaluates combined alternatives. During the first consultation, she defines whether Invisalign is the ideal option for each case.
Clinically, most patients adapt to the aligners within the first 48 hours. It is normal to feel slight pressure when starting each new set, a sign that the teeth are moving, but this sensation is significantly less than traditional bracket adjustments. Check-ups happen every 6 to 8 weeks, which translates into fewer clinic visits compared to conventional orthodontics.
Invisalign Diamond Provider status indicates treatment volume, but does not guarantee the outcome of an individual case. Complexity, tooth and gum health, and adherence to the plan affect what can be achieved. The evaluation includes a discussion of limitations and alternatives before treatment begins.

Our Approach
At AS Odontología Digital, Dr. Camila Sampaio evaluates the bite and the health of the teeth and gums before proposing Invisalign treatment. The iTero 5D scan and ClinCheck help prepare and explain the plan. Aligner changes and follow-up visits are prescribed individually. During follow-up, we check aligner fit and tooth movement; when needed, we reassess the plan and refinements. The final phase includes planning retention and follow-up care.

How long does Invisalign treatment take?
Duration is estimated after assessing your bite and the movements needed. It can change with tooth response, aligner wear and the need for refinements. The simulation supports planning but does not guarantee a completion date.
Does Invisalign work for complex cases?
It can be an option for some complex cases, but not all. The evaluation determines whether aligners, braces or another approach are appropriate. A digital plan does not make every movement equally predictable.
How many hours a day should I wear the aligners?
For the best results, aligners should be worn 20 to 22 hours a day, removing them only to eat, drink hot or colored beverages, and for oral hygiene.
Are there age restrictions for Invisalign?
There is no upper age limit. Invisalign is available for teens (Invisalign Teen, with compliance indicators) and adults of all ages. The key requirement is good periodontal health.
Is Invisalign painful?
It can cause pressure, soreness or irritation, especially when starting a new aligner. Intensity and duration vary. Contact the treating team if discomfort is severe or persistent, or an aligner does not fit.
Can I see the final result before starting?
ClinCheck lets you see a simulation of the proposed movements and goal. This image is not a guarantee of the result: follow-up visits assess the clinical response and allow the plan to be adjusted when necessary.
What does Invisalign Diamond Provider mean and why does it matter?
It is a category related to Invisalign treatment volume. AS reports that Dr. Camila Sampaio has held this distinction since 2021. When choosing treatment, also consider the clinician’s training, diagnosis, alternatives and follow-up; the category alone does not guarantee the outcome.
Why iTero 5D and not another intraoral scanner?
iTero is the intraoral scanner developed by Align Technology, the maker of Invisalign. Integration with ClinCheck is native, which lets us send the scan directly to the planning software with no loss of accuracy, simulate the final result on the day of the first consultation, and detect interproximal caries, gingival recession, or occlusal wear early through NIRI and the diagnostic modules built into the device.
Do I need retainers after treatment?
Yes. As with any orthodontic treatment, retainers are essential for maintaining results long-term. We offer both fixed and removable retainers depending on each patient's needs.
What risks and limitations should I understand?
Aligners can cause soreness and irritation. As with other orthodontic treatment, risks include changes to tooth roots, decay with inadequate hygiene and movements that do not occur as planned. We discuss the risks relevant to your case before starting.
What should I ask about refinements and retainers?
Ask the plan to specify which refinements it includes and how they are decided. Also ask about retainers and follow-up visits: retainers help maintain tooth position after treatment and need long-term care.
