Temporomandibular Disorders & Orofacial Pain

Dr. Montserrat Ortega Baranda is a dentist whose clinical work centers on the diagnosis and treatment of temporomandibular disorders (TMD), orofacial pain, and dental sleep medicine. She is a specialist in Temporomandibular Disorders and Orofacial Pain from Universidad del Desarrollo, a training she complemented with a Diploma in Sleep Medicine in Clinical Practice from Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile and an international internship in anatomy and minimally invasive, ultrasound-guided techniques of the temporomandibular joint (CIPAP, UNIFASE, Petrópolis, Brazil).

Her clinical practice at AS Odontología Digital covers patients with jaw pain, joint (TMJ) pain, bruxism, limited mouth opening, joint sounds, and headaches of musculoskeletal origin. She also performs the dental evaluation of patients with sleep-related breathing disorders and takes part in managing obstructive sleep apnea through the indication and fabrication of mandibular advancement devices (MAD) when indicated. Her goal is to understand the origin of pain and functional alterations through a comprehensive evaluation, offering personalized treatment that improves function, rest, and quality of life.

Alongside her specialist practice, she works as a dentist in primary healthcare, where she has built broad experience in comprehensive dentistry for children and adults, together with teaching and clinical leadership roles.
