Pediatric Dentistry
For pediatric patients we work with Bites Odontopediatría, our sister clinic in Vitacura
AS Odontología Digital is an adult-focused clinic specialized in digital dentistry. When a patient comes in with a child who needs dental care, the answer is direct: we refer to Bites Odontopediatría, the sister clinic founded by our team. Bites is in the same building, Av. Kennedy 7440, office 920, right next to AS Odontología Digital in office 921. The transfer is from one office to the other, without losing clinical continuity between adults and children of the same family.
The Bites team is made up of pediatric dentists and specialists dedicated exclusively to children's care. Dr. Florencia Nogueira leads the clinic as co-founder and is a pioneer in Chile in the use of pediatric dental laser. Dr. Camila Sampaio, also co-director of AS Odontología Digital, leads the orthodontics area. The team also includes Dr. Bernardita Astaburuaga in maxillary orthopedics, Dr. Claudia Valenzuela in general pediatric dentistry, and Dr. María Luisa López, a pediatric dentist with a focus on children's sleep medicine.
The technologies that distinguish Bites include the latest-generation dental laser, which enables minimally invasive treatments and, in particular, laser lingual and labial frenectomies. This procedure is key in infants with frenulum restriction affecting breastfeeding, in children with speech difficulties from limited tongue mobility, and in adolescents or adults where frenulum correction supports orthodontic treatment.
Bites's clinical focus areas are: children's sleep medicine (evaluation of nighttime breathing patterns, snoring, oral clinical signs related to airway development, coordinated with Dr. María Luisa López), interceptive orthodontics and maxillary orthopedics to guide facial growth at the right stage, teen Invisalign, dedicated care for children with special needs, conscious sedation with nitrous oxide for severe anxiety cases, dental emergencies for trauma or acute pain, and restorative treatment for extensive caries cases.
The space and protocols are designed so the first dental experience is not traumatic. Climbing wall, reading nooks, themed bathroom, age-adapted language. The Bites philosophy is direct: your child will not be afraid of the dentist. Every technology in use has a clear clinical purpose: lower the anxiety, avoid pain, make the child associate the visit with something good. We recommend the first visit from the first year of life or when the first tooth appears.

Our Approach
Bites Odontopediatría exists because pediatric dentistry requires a space, a language, and a team different from those of adult care. That cannot be improvised by adding a pediatric program to an adult clinic: that is why we founded Bites as an independent clinic. The team combines general pediatric dentistry, interceptive orthodontics, maxillary orthopedics, children's sleep medicine, and care for children with special needs. The philosophy is that every technology in use has a clear clinical purpose: lower the anxiety, avoid pain, make the child associate the dental visit with something positive. If your child needs a first consult or a more specific evaluation, we refer directly to Bites in office 920 of the same building.
Pediatric cases
For pediatric cases: we work with Bites Odontopediatría
AS Odontología Digital is the team's adult clinic with advanced digital dentistry. For pediatric cases that require a specialist, we work alongside Bites Odontopediatría, the sister clinic founded by our team in Vitacura.
Bites holds the same academic standard and clinical philosophy, adapted for child development. If your child needs a first visit, interceptive orthodontics, management of childhood bruxism, or an evaluation of mouth breathing, the answer is there.

Frequently Asked Questions
At what age should the first dental visit be?
We recommend the first visit from the first year of life or when the first tooth appears. Early visits allow us to detect potential problems, guide parents, and establish a positive relationship between the child and dental care. At Bites, the first consult is designed specifically for this stage.
What makes dental laser special in pediatric dentistry?
The laser allows many procedures without anesthesia or with minimal anesthesia, without bleeding, with less postoperative inflammation, and faster healing. In lingual and labial frenectomies it completely changes the experience: the procedure takes minutes, the infant or child does not need stitches, and recovery is almost immediate. Dr. Florencia Nogueira, clinical director of Bites, is a pioneer in Chile in its pediatric use.
When is a laser frenectomy indicated?
In infants with lingual or labial frenulum restriction that interferes with breastfeeding (poor latch, maternal pain, low weight gain). In children with speech problems from limited tongue mobility. In adolescents and adults as a step before or alongside orthodontic treatment. Clinical evaluation defines the indication case by case.
Does Bites evaluate children's sleep problems?
Yes. Dr. María Luisa López, pediatric dentist at Bites, focuses on children's sleep medicine. She evaluates nighttime breathing patterns, snoring, and oral clinical signs associated with airway development (high-arched palate, crossbite, low tongue posture), and refers to polysomnography when indicated. Chronic bruxism and mouth breathing in children are signs worth evaluating early.
What is interceptive maxillary orthopedics?
It is a treatment that takes advantage of the child's natural growth to correct bite problems, guide jaw development, and prevent future malocclusions. It is performed during childhood when the bones are more moldable, and can reduce or eliminate the need for complex orthodontics in adolescence. At Bites it is led by Dr. Bernardita Astaburuaga.
Can my child be sedated during treatment?
In cases of severe anxiety or longer procedures, Bites offers conscious sedation with nitrous oxide. It is a safe method, supervised by specialized professionals, that keeps the child conscious but relaxed during treatment. The decision is made case by case after evaluating the patient.
Do you treat children with special needs?
Yes. Bites has clinical experience with children with autism, ADHD, cerebral palsy, and other conditions that require dental protocol adaptation. The visit is planned in advance with the parents to accommodate the patient's sensory and behavioral needs.
